Click to Enlarge While many through out our nation are making plans for the up coming Memorial Day Holiday with their cook outs, camping trips and various out door activities, the local AMVETS of Post 124 are making some what different plans. Since 2005 the local Post has placed American Flags on veterans grave sites in cementaries in many communities in Mason, Bracken and parts of Fleming County. Since the project began in 2005 it has grown in size with the passing of many of the WWII, Korean and Vietnam war Veterans. In 2009 AMVETS placed more than (4) four thousand flags on veterans graves. There has been an increase in volunteers steping up to assist in this honorable endeavor from with in the communities. This year AMVETS expects to place some fourty eight hundred flags on Veterans graves. This year the local AMVETS will see the rememberance of what Memorial Day stands for by providing a ceremony at the Memorial of the " Fallen Soldier Monument" located in the newly constructed "American Veterans Memorial Park" located @ 325 Martin Luther King Blvd. West in Maysville.
