Ms. Charlotte was married to George R Flaugher, ( deceased ) a twenty four year veteran of the US Navy, who served in three major conflicts, WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam. Talking with Ms. Charlotte she can share many experiences about the times she accompanied her husband during his years in the Navy, some that took her to many foreign countries. Ms. Charlotte is extremely proud of the medals awarded her late husband during his tour of duty, those being the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the China Service Medal. One of her most revered possessions is the American Flag that was flown atop the the USS Bryce Canyon, her husbands last duty assignment, presented to him honoring his service when he retired. Ms. Charlotte has donated this flag in honor of her late husband to the Lady AMVETS, requesting it be displayed on the wall of honor in the " American Veterans Memorial Park " Veteran and community building when it is completed. Shown is AMVETS Commander Gene Hook presenting a flower arrangement to Ms. Charlotte in appreciation for four plus decades of service in supporting veterans. |
