Maysville AMVETS post 124 was established August 10, 2005. The first meeting was held at the Washington bingo center in Washington. Since that historical moment the AMVETS family has been involved in many projects supporting veterans , their families, men and women in the armed forces and organizations in the Maysville and Brooksville community.
The AMVETS and their auxiliary " Lady AMVETS" very early, established goals for the up coming year. Some that were futuristic and some for the immediate future. This group of men and women have remained focused through out the year and were able to achieve many of the goals. As you tour the event pages on this web site you can readily see many volunteer hours, forty seven hundred, to be exact, have been spent by this group in achieveing their goals.
One well defined goal remained very clear in the minds of the AMVETS family, the need for a veterans center and a memorial park. A complex that would be acessible, not only to veterans and their families but also to the community and visitors as well. One that would reflect the community's support to the veterans who have served and passed on, for those serving now and those who will serve in the future. A park that will for ever be a shinning beacon for our community and those who will visit in the future.

The park will consist of a veterans service building to include AMVETS post home, a Veterans & community center with gift shop. But most importantly there will be walking trails leading to the displays that will honor all conflicts from the Simon Kenton era to the current war on terrorism. Displays that will be a memory awakening for some and a history lesson for others.
